Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets, and they can easily maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have test. It may be stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum the area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." It's capable of sucking up a variety of types of debris and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas several times to ensure a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice addition.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to move its own. In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
